Crazy busy days.

My brother is visiting from Austin. We went to a childhood friend's wedding on Saturday night at the LA Cathedral. Like many good weddings, it ended with the centerpieces coming apart on the floor. I didn't drink much at all at the wedding, but it was a late night and a very very early morning.

Patchwork was Sunday in Santa Ana. And exhausting. Liz and I made some money...see?

Monday my brother and I spent some time running around town, and I started getting ready for this weekend.

Tuesday I taught. And critiqued.

Wednesday I made a turkey. My brother and I went to our Grandma and Aunt's for an early Thanksgiving. I cooked a really good dinner all by my little bony self, and it was thoroughly exhausting. I slept really well last night, but this morning came early again.

Today is teaching and more prep work for this weekend. What's this weekend?

I'm teaching another two-day bookbinding workshop at Surface Gallery in Bakersfield. Not ready, but looking forward to it.

I'm also getting work ready to take to Henry Road and a group show at Happy.

There are other things I am doing and thinking about and photographing. And the weather is getting pretty. And I'm looking forward to california wintertime.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!

Have I mentioned Patchwork? In Santa Ana? This Sunday?

You should check it out! Tell your friends to check it out! Support independent artists and designers!

My friend Liz Sherwyn and I will be sharing a booth. It'll be the fancy looking one.

I have lots to do.....and the slightest hint of a cold.

Post-Patchwork.

The Patchwork Show went well, but what a long long day. I talked to a lot of good people, met some Etsy folks, and made some sales. Lots of people came, and the vendors' work was consistently strong. Lots of clothes and bags and baby things. There were so many well-dressed babies at this event! Seriously, these kids had more style than I do!

Here's some recent work that didn't sell. I'm probably not going to post these for sale on Etsy, since I have some real-world shows coming up...

Speaking of Etsy, I made 8 sales in 2 days in my shop! Egads! I put some pieces on 'sale,' and they went flying off the shelves...which was exactly my plan. Thanks everyone who purchased work...I'm at a lovely 85 sales!

So someone tell me why I can't sell this? It's been viewed 1254 times, and has been "hearted" by 70 people. Come on, folks. I'm getting a little sick of looking at it! $40.00 takes it away. Put it in a frame; hang it on yer wall.

May!?

Egads! It's May!

Busy with end-of-the-semester business, grading, and getting ready for the Patchwork show on Sunday. Also finishing up my nesting dolls for Abbey's Doll Swap. I think they are supposed to be to her....today? Shoot.

Here's a sneak peek....the second smallest of the five dolls.

Patchworking.

Where's Michelle? What's she doing? I've been busy, and I really haven't felt like being on my computer lately.

If you're in California and feel like going to Santa Ana on Sunday May 4th, I strongly encourage you to check out the Patchwork Indie Art & Craft Show. I went to the first one back in the fall, and I am delighted to be a vendor this time around. The event is from 11-5, and it is in the parking lots behind the Road Less Traveled store. It's right off the Five freeway. The event is organized by Random Nicole. She's cool too. Everything's cool! It will be a good event...come say hi!

My students have been working on photo-polymer-plate-water-etchings, (every time I talk about this process, I call it something different...) For my demo, I exposed a couple of plates with typewriter drawings. Not sure what I'm doing with them yet, but they're nice to look at.

Girls and their typewriters....
