Thanks-giving!

Some sort of a fuzzy, elegant drawing about moths, I think.
I booked my flight to Wyoming last night! Yay! It is a bit of a weight off my mind, and it is a great relief to know that the big dent in my bank account is only temporary, thanks to the support I have found through my Kickstarter project, Books & Postcards from Wyoming.

Very thankful indeed.

I'm not packing my bags yet, though. I've had a very welcome couple of days off, in which I have spent getting organized at my new place, reading a Nancy Drew book, (mostly while soaking in the bathtub) and trying to make the leap and book the other adventure that's sneaking up... my ever-complicated holiday travel plans. I can't wait to see family in Texas and California, but it is making me anxious and neck-tense nonetheless.

What else is new? Oh yeah, my Bakersfield friends Liz and Laura passed through Spruce Pine on Sunday/Monday. They've driven cross-country, and have kept a blog of their adventures. It was a good, short visit, and I got to play tour guide to friends at Penland's currently deserted campus. Although it was a ghost town up there on Monday morning, I don't think Liz and Laura were disappointed!

Final weeks of classes at App State, final weeks of the season at the Penland Gallery.....it's all winding down. I'm mostly glad, but it is making me a little anxious. But for today I'll take it easy, roast some beets and radishes, and head over to my friends John and Courtney's for Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanks, y'all!

three-legged screaming thing, part two.

Long morning and afternoon printing. Good. Tired now. Covered in ink. Intaglio muscles sore. More printing (and teaching) tomorrow. I'll take some pictures of the actual prints too. (I can't help myself...I am more interested in documenting my tarletons and piles of ink.)

Unintentional muppet-y colors. Well, maybe a little intentional. And picture me in pink gloves and pink corduroy pants.

Really.

What am I printing? I'm down to the wire working on my edition for the Varied Edition Portfolio for the Dirty Printmakers of America's "States of the State" project. (Whew, I'm not even sure I followed that....) I'm very excited about my prints, and even more excited to be in a VARIED edition portfolio.

Hoopla!

three-legged screaming thing.

I woke up at 4:30 this morning. I don't know why that happens, but I'm running with it. Running up to Northridge to do some printing, and probably some grading, too. I have a million students this semester, so the work has piled up.

And by the way, where did October go? I have had a lot on my plate the past couple of weeks, and I have stayed sane by regular doses of the Muppet Show.

And THIS is one of my favorite bits, for a lot of reasons that I can not get into this early in the morning, before coffee. Why do you think I like it so much?

Eagle Rock Holiday Sale

On November 30 I participated in the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts annual holiday sale. This was the second year I participated in the sale, and it was a great day for everyone.

I bought some letterpress cards from Madeleine of Panarama Press, who I just discovered has an Etsy shop. Take a look.

I also bought myself an early Christmas present: a Random Nicole skirt. Nicole Stevenson makes some great things, and I want more of 'em in my closet. Nicole's recent endevour is the Craft Kitchen in Orange county. I haven't been down south for some time, but next time I do, I'll be paying a visit.

Its also been too too long since I've been to the Crab Cooker.....

Hmm. I'm hungry.

I've been very busy with end-of-the-semester to-do lists, and big piles of art projects to grade. The end is in sight, however. In the next few weeks I may even find some time to make some new work.

My strategy for end-of-the-semester stress? I bought a thousand-piece puzzle for the printshop at CSUN. I grade a few things, then work on the puzzle for a few minutes. Its a good way of keeping calm.
